Red Nose Day, Sainsbury's & Coombe House
On Sunday 25th October, SCOS members sang in the foyer of Sainsbury's in Kidderminster and raised £140 for the Noah's Ark Trust (see our links page).
On Sunday 1st November, more singing for charity, this time in the Co-op Stourport-on-Severn. The funds received from this occasion will go to Kemp House.
On Red Nose Day we all had great fun performing some Abba and some other popular pieces from our concert programme on 18th April at Kidderminster Town Hall. Fortunately the weather was okay and the people of Kidderminster seemed to enjoy listening and seeing us dressed up in some real 70's looking outfits- did we really wear things like that!!. After collecting and performing in Kidderminster we went on to Stourport Co-op where we repeated our performance with the help of Alistair our musical director and Angela our pianist. We were able to collect a fair bit of money for Red Nose Day.- Combined with some donations from the choir we collected £130.00 which we sent of to comic relief, so as well as donating to a worthy cause we all enjoyed ourselves and hopefully showed the local people what a fun concert it will be on the 18th April.
Representatives from the choir sang in Sainsbury's in Kidderminster on Sunday 29th March, raising nearly £200 for kemp Hospice. Well done to all those present!
A group from the choir led by Alistair, our musical director, and Angela, our pianist, went to Coombe House on Saturday 16th May to help entertain at a garden party . The weather was rather mixed but we managed to sing for two spots of 20 minutes before the heavens opened! It was in aid of funds for a sensory garden, and the visitors found a good choice of interesting stalls with bric-a-brac and a refreshment stall with lovely home-made cakes . We don't know yet how much was raised, but we certainly enjoyed it and the visitors seemed very appreciative, so it's nice to think we can help with such a worthwhile cause.
