July 2007 Fanfare for England

"Last Saturday the Stourport Choral & Operatic Societ joined forces with the Stourport Brass Band to present Fanfare for england. The sound produced by the voices and instruments in Parry's Blest Pair of Sirens was magnificent, only surpassed in volume during the encore Land of Hope and Glory aided byenthusiastic audience participation".

November 2007 Music and Mists: Chorus of Praise

Whenever we pick up a paper we can guarantee that someone will be moaning about something that is not right or to their satisfaction.

These people could not have said this if they had been where we were on Saturday November 3rd- the Town Hall, Kidderminster.

Once again the Stourport Choral & Operatic Society gave such a marvellous concert enjoyed by all.

They give so much of their time to the enjoyment of others.

Thank you all so much- you give us so much pleasure.

Carols at the Castle

What a wonderful setting for a Christmas Concert, the hall bedecked with festive flowers and trimmings, as we listened to the superb singing of SCOS.

There were many popular items and we heard a sprinkling of John Rutter songs, two of which stood out for me, Star Carol, a great arrangement with a varying tempi and The Very Best Time of the Year.

The musical items were interspersed with readings. the telling of the Christmas Story by a donkey was read by Gwyneth Savage and Pat Gale and Mary Wehner read letters regarding the decoration of the village hall.

My favourite reading was an excerpt from Laurie Lee's Cider with Rosie. The highlight of the evening was Shepherd's Farewell by Berlioz. We all joined in O Come All Ye Faithful and the evening closed with We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
